The Radio and TV barn finally went on air, as songs from Adele to Justin Bieber filled every corner of Cebu Normal University (CNU) today.
Dr. Joseph Elvir Tubilan, the head of Department of Communication and Media Studies as well as the barn's disc jockey said he was delighted that after 8 long years, a broadcasting laboratory is now available.
“This laboratory will help every Communication Major, especially the Juniors next semester because we now have equipment and facilities not just for classroom instructions but also on the technical and broadcasting side” he emphasized.
It went on-air for the first time last Monday, during the opening of the survey visit for the Level One Accreditation of eight degree programs in CNU including Master of Arts in Communication.
The plan to establish the TV and Radio Barn was hatched in 2005 and the construction was made possible through the development funds collected from Communication students from the previous batches.
Aside from having the tools that will be used for filming, photography, and broadcasting, this laboratory will also help the students get a firsthand experience on the technical aspect. This will be a huge advantage for students if they go on the field, should they wish to be part of the media industry someday.
