Cebu Normal University hailed another king and queen as CAS beauty, Dulcelyn Insong and CN’s darling, Jorel Franco Antone Tangpuz was crowned as this year’s Mr. and Ms. CNU.
Insong, a Communication major could not believe her ears when she was called as the winner. She was not expecting to bring home the crown as she only wanted to enjoy the experience. She said that her family, friends and supporters motivated her to do her best in the competition. She also admitted having difficulties in her preparation with her being a senior and doing thesis. She had to make a lot of sacrifices.
Tangpuz on the other hand was able to secure his college’s 3-peat record. His predecessors, Azriel Marungdan and Dan Kyle Alinsug were able to nab the crown, and so did he. He said that there was a lot of pressure on his part because of the previous back-to-back win. The victory felt overwhelming. “Among all three candidates, I felt like I was the ugliest,” he added, laughing.
The jam packed Samuel McClintock hall exploded with cheers as the competing 8 ladies and 7 gents set the runway on fire with their sparkling red Filipinianas and barongs as well as their black one piece and trunk attire sponsored by Mr. Noel Inez during the Swimwear category.
However, the pageant was not without some problems. A mistake was made when Erika Fe Nacua of CNU-Medellin was called instead of Deanne Stephanie Hordista of CN during the announcement of the final 5 in the female category. Mr.Eric Remoroza, the event manager apologized for the mistake. It was due to some technical glitch in the Excel that an error was made.
